Healthy Choices

I have struggled with weight, which has been by no means anyone’s fault but my own, for most my life. I never make healthy choices for long periods of time. Why is it when our health starts to fail…. That is when we become serious about changing our life-style? To all my readers….don’t wait to make healthy choices. Life is precious and we can shorten it by not eating properly or exercising, these are just a few healthy choices.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I have been on nurmerous diets, I have worked out off and on all my life. I’ve done well over 100- 5K’s, and a few 10K’s and half-marathons, but I don’t dedicate myself to me when it comes to making healthy choices for long periods of time. I’m sixty years young now and I have had asthma most of my life, sadly this has taken a toll of my lungs. I could sit here and not do anything and become a couch potato, blaming my laziness on my lungs, but I have rised above and realzied that my lungs can become stronger if I don’t give up.

Healthy choices are so important, and we can start them at any age. We are never too young or too old to start a healthy life-style. I’ve seen people who are deathly ill and they still manage to so some sorty of work-out while laying in bed. I had a patient take her walker and walk around the facility almost every single day.

Accountablility is key when it comes to healthy choices in our lives. Healthy choices does not just mean eating healthy and exercising daily, healthy choices also include, working at a job you enjoy, being in a healthy relationship, living in a healthy environment (keeping your home clean, taking baths/showers, cleaning up after pets,…..etc.). The less stress you have in your life, the healthier life you will have.

If you have trouble being accountable for yourself, I’ll admit, I need to have someone check on me to see if I’m being accountable, then find someone you trust and work together to make healthier choices. Make a promise to yourself that you will be accountable for your health and life-style. I made a promise to myself, and two of my daughters, that starting Wednesday, I will make a change to have a healthier life, because I made the choice to.

Pick a day in the near future to start your healthy choices.

Trust the Journey,

Alexis
