I got an Italian purse from a very loving girlfriend Kate. I love it to say the least. Now most people probably wouldn’t use it on a daily basis, but I loved using the purse every single day. I would even put my lunch in it when I went to work.
A couple days ago I had my lunch in it and a can of pop. I went to get gas. I threw my wallet into my purse. It hit the pop can perfectly and put a hole in it. Talk about a shock! The pop can exploded in my purse. I didn’t mention that there was a cute make-up bag that matched the purse. I grabbed the pop can covering the hole and got it out of the purse and into the garbage can. My purse was a mess, not to mention everything inside was drenched with sticky pop.
I told Kate what I had done. Her response is worth posting, “All that did was make the purse yours 100%.” I am glad you love it so much but please remember, it is just a thing. It can be replaced. You and your health, physically and mentally is far more important. Holy shit, I think I just turned into my mom!”
What Kate stated filled my heart. I took care of Kate’s mom as a Social Worker when she was in the nursing home. Kate’s mom had a heart of gold also and yes, Kate…..The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I learned a valuable lesson today, Items can be replaced because they are just a thing. Your health and mental health is way more important than material things. I love you, Kate. Thank you for making me realize I need to love what I have and the way it ages. You taught me to enjoy what I have by making things 100% mine.
