Post Surgery & Losing a Friend

I have not written in awhile because of surgery on my only vocal cord. I opt to have the surgery in hopes to have a better quality of life breathing. During my recovery this week I lost a friend who had breathing problems. Oh man….this friend was so dang funny and she could make anyone laugh out loud with her facebook posts, not to mention bring out your rosy red cheeks being embarrassed even though no one else is in the room while you read her “oh so funny” posts.

I felt guilty even wanting to post anything about my opportunity to breathe better while I had a friend fighting for her life trying to breathe. Her strength and her love for life gave me such a huge boost of determination. She never showed any weakness and through it all, she would post “Good Morning” on her facebook with beautiful sunflowers. She was and will always be the sunshine in the sunflowers to all who knew her.

After thinking about my friend and my surgery I have to smile because it is her strength and her love to help make people smile that got me through this past week. After surgery I started to feel sorry for myself because I lost most of my voice. I do have a whisper that I am hoping will become stronger, but after thinking about my friend this week, I am truly blessed with the voice I have and the air I breathe. .

I am also blessed to have connected with this highschool friend via Facebook. I’m not sure if she knows how many people’s hearts she touched, but I know she is looking down on us all smiling, breathing, and sending beautiful sunflowers for us all to see. I love how someone can touch our hearts with their humor and their love of life.

Thank you friend for giving me a very valuable lesson in life…”Friends will always give you strength even when you don’t realize it”…I will forever think of you for giving me so much laughter that I snort and possible pee a little (wink), for being the strength many of don’t even realize we have within us.
