Influencers

We all grow up with Influencers who have left our hearts a little bigger, our brains a little smarter and our life’s outlook a little more joyful.

My daughter is my number one influencer. Although I am the mom, she has taught me valuable lessons. Lessons I will talk about in a later time. I just wanted to express how the love and tough love of a child is just as valuable as the love and tough love a mom gives to her child.

I’m a small town girl and didn’t have many influencers as a young girl, but let me tell you….I gathered as many as I possibly could once I figured out my life and found Dr. William Glasser while in college. He was such an influence when I learned his “Reality Therapy, Choice Theory.” I had a choice to change my life. The choice was always mine, The reality was…. I was strong enough to make the choice to start living my life without regret and with strength and happiness. The reality is I have a choice how I choose to live my life.

As an early adult, Oprah’s “Ah Ha” saying made me acknowledge moments which made me smile. I loved that saying and the meaning behind it. I have so many “Ah Ha” moments these days I seem to live in an “Ah Ha” world. Oprah has been my influencer for a very long time and to this day I smile when I think of her and how one little saying can make such a difference in someone’s life.

My grandfather, Herman, was a loving and huge influencer in my life. Although his time was short on this earth, he was the most loving man I have ever known. Before Alzheimer’s took his personality away from him, his love for everyone prior to Alzheimer’s was unselfish. He loved his garden and although he passed away in 1984, I still have his cement turtle I place in my yard so he is a piece of all the beautiful growth in my yard.

I am also my own influencer. I have hit rock bottom, I have hit the high life and I have skated through parts of my life with my eyes closed. What I love about myself (yes, I truly do finally love myself wholeheartedly) is I have learned to accept challenges as learning life lessons, I don’t settle just to settle and if I want to accomplish something….you can bet I will figure out a way to accomplish it sooner or later. I also do not think about “what if I fail,” I jump into life with both feet learning as I go through life, without regret.

I smile as I type this blog today as I realize just how much my daughter, Dr. William Glasser, Oprah, and my grandfather have influenced me and have taught me such valuable life lessons. There have been other influencers in my life and as I go through my life I have daily life influencers that teach me valuable life lessons.

I hope I have influenced my readers along the way, teaching everyone to understand how life is full of life lessons and we can learn from one another. Even if we don’t agree with someone about something, they are still our influencers whom we can learn valuable lessons from.
