Being in a Rut

We’ve all been there, digging a path going back and forth with our thoughts and actions until we get into a rut or some people say…we develop an unhealthy habit and find ourselves in a hole we feel we cannot dig out of. You can dig out of any hole if you set your mind to it.

In my lifetime I have been in more ruts than I care to remember. But, what makes me smile when I think about these ruts I have been in is, I made it out of the rut I was stuck in while moving forward. Yes, sometimes I took a few steps backwards, but those steps backwards taught me the correct path to proceed forward.

I have had the same thoughts many of you have had when experiencing life’s unpleasant experiences… “Why me?” I also remember all the hard times I got through and thought, “I did it, I am a stronger individual with valuable life lessons.” Oh….don’t get me wrong….when I thought I knew what I was doing and I thought I had learned a great life lesson…..Life threw me another curveball to remind me that I will always be a work in progress because life is full of adventures and lessons.

Sometimes we are slow learners and it takes many times to repeat the same mistake in life for us to really truly learn the lesson we are supposed to learn (remember….a rut is going back and forth until we are stuck in a hole or rut.) Sometimes I feel as though I am a slow learner, but there is a reason for this…..amazing valuable lessons take time and patience in order for the lesson to stick in your head and move forward with strength and determination.

I want to remind you….When you get in a rut, not everyone will understand your actions. Your actions are for your lessons….We all travel different roads and we all learn differently. No one should judge us for the way we travel our paths. Life if full of ruts. No road in life is always smooth, some roads have huge potholes and when we hit those potholes we need to readjust ourselves so we can travel without being out of line, if you know what I mean.

My lesson for today is….I found myself in a rut and I’m taking action to change my behavior and actions so I get out of this rut, move forward, and be happy I learned another life lesson.

When we are in a rut, examine what we are doing in life that caused us to fall into a rut. Find healthy ways to change a behavior or action so you know what you did to develop the rut you got into. When we hit a pothole you can definitely realine yourself and move forward with pride without getting into a rut.
