How many times do you have to stop, think about the mood you are in, and then….once again….realize you need to change your mindset? This is how our life flows, we have to train our mind to enjoy the life we want. If we think about how we want to change, visualize how we want to change, you can achieve what you want to change. It’s all in our mind and how we see the vision we desire.
I have to check in with myself numerous times a day because I lose track on what I want to achieve. Life can become busy and sometimes we get caught up with moments that distract us away from the life we want to achieve. Our attitude has a strong pull on our mindset. Attitude is everything….believe that. If your mindset (attitude) believes you will fail, trust me when I say, you will probably fail. Being positive is such an amazing mindset, and one that will help make your life a more pleasurable one.
Self-checking your attitude is a continuous event. You have the power to feel the way you want to feel. You can be mad at the world and complain about it continuously or you can focus on your life, your attitude and enjoy your life. The choice is yours.
When I do group counseling I love to come into the group and be all cranky and act like I don’t want to teach the group. I then ask them how they felt about me when I entered the room and acted like I didn’t care about them. I then tell them I’m going to leave and be back in a moment, I come back into the room about 30 seconds later and I am happy and excited to meet the group and eager to help them learn a skill/tool that could help life’s challenges. I ask the group how they felt about me the second time around. All have told me that they didn’t like me the first time when I entered the room pretending I didn’t care about them, and all of them felt good about the second time I entered showing how much I cared about them and eager to help them.
Our mind is very powerful and we have to notice our mood changes. Another example is then we smell something appealing versus smelling something horrible. We are happy when we smell something wonderful and when we smell something that we don’t like, our mood changes in an instant. When I smell Chinese food…I am totally happy and hungry, when I smell someone’s foul egg farts, I want to throw-up. Getting a phone call from someone I love makes me happy, getting a phone call from a bill collector would make me cranky……Just saying, our mood changes in a second…..Do you get the point I’m trying to make?
I seriously carry a bottle of my favorite Young Living Essential Oil with me all the time for the past six because I needed to change my mindset A LOT back in the days and whipping out and smelling my oil helped me tremendously. I can control my moods more now, but I still love smelling my oils because the make me relax. We CAN control our moods.
