At times, Thanksgiving can be a tad sad. This year I took a hard long look on what I was thankful for. Sometimes we should be thankful for what we first thought was a “horrible experience gone wrong.” We have to look at our past to understand the lessons the past taught us. For me, my past has taught me that although life was tough….This tough life has brought me such joy and knowledge.
I have had some amazing Thanksgivings in my past. I’ve had more sadness without having family involved with Thanksgivings. This year I chose to make sure my spouse spent time with his family because…..he has family and family is important. I’m thankful that I have the heart to give up my selfishness to want to be with him knowing that his family members will be happy with him being with them. Sometimes we have to give, to feel good about ourselves.
Yes….I am totally having a self-pity party, but I chose this. Sometimes in life we have to give more than we receive. This is so important in life. This is a great life lesson. What is this lesson??? To give more than we receive without, to give without expecting receiving something in return. To be thankful for what we have without expecting more.
Today was a challenge for me. Yes, I did have a small pity-party because I am home alone. Although, I am more thankful in knowing those I love are spending time with their family who cherish them, as I do, I have learned to NOT be selfish and understand there are those who need their loved ones to get through holidays. So….I want to share my thankfulness….
I am thankful for….
My daughter, who is the joy of my life, also including her husband who is amazing.
My extended family who is not blood related, my adopted mom and dad.
Branching away from family who never cared about me, best thing I ever did for my health.
Friends, those who, no matter how long it has been since we’ve been in contact…..we still care for one another.
I am truly Thankful to be able to forgive and move on.
I am Thankful for everyone I have ever meet because, I have learned something from each and every one of you.
I am thankful for all my pets who always showed me unconditional love, wouldn’t it be nice if humans acted the same way.
I am thankful for my ability to be spontaneous and enjoy life to its fullest.
I am also thankful for all my readers, I hope I can make a difference and help people realize that……You are important and we all have a story we can write and learn from.
