Selfishness

I have witnessed so much selfishness in my life, I believe we all have, heck….I have been selfish as well at times. What bothers me most is when someone is continuously selfish. It’s like they believe life revolves around them and they expect others to “get it” and go with it. The dictionary states being selfish is “lacking consideration for others, concerned chiefly with one’s own personal profit or pleasure.”

After reading the definition, my heart drops just thinking of the times I was selfish. I’m not saying you shouldn’t think about your well being, what I’m saying is….don’t make it such a habit that you lose yourself in yourself and forget about others. Don’t allow yourself to start thinking you are above others.

I write from my heart and my experiences in hopes that others learn as I have. I believe I have been a giving person most of my life. I too get a tad selfish when I need to be. Sometimes one needs to be selfish just so they are not taken advantage of. I love seeing people smile from giving a little without jeopardizing their well-being. I believe you have to give to receive.

Now please remember as you read this…these are my thoughts and many believe differently. With that being said, I believe that selfish people don’t smile as much, they may have inside issues they need to deal with, have been given more than they gave, and in all honesty…..My heart goes out to them.

I heard extreme selfishness today, which prompt me to write this blog. Life is short my fellow readers. Spend time with the ones you love, give to those who need it, because giving is showing you care. Giving does not require you to spend money, giving can be spending time with a loved one. Even with the Covid-19 going on….. Spend time with those you care about regardless if it’s through a window, text, phone call or a drive by screaming out your car window to a friend on a balcony just so they knew you cared (yes…I did that).

Our world needs to be giving and forgiving. Love without selfishness and give without expectations. Thank you all for reading my blog. When you read my blog…you are giving me your time and being unselfish. I so appreciate you all.

Alexis
