Taking Love For Granite

I am pretty positive we have all felt that we have been taken for granite by a loved one. Heck, I have taken love for granite, I’m not proud of it, but I have done it. Most of the time when we take someone for granite, we don’t even realize it until it is too late.

Love is precious…so very precious. I am talking about the love of a family member, friends, a spouse, and our pets. As I have written before, I am a true workaholic and tonight I realized that I, at times, take my precious dog, Bella, for granite because she waits for me at home with such love….the same amount of love if I have walked through the door being away for 10 minutes or 10 hours. What I do is…. show Bella how much I love her faithfully all the time. When we are together, I show her how much I love her.

We believe our family, friends, spouses, and pets are going to be there each time we want them to be, sadly this isn’t the case. Yes….sometimes our loved ones pass away and, sometimes they just walk out of our lives. As you know…these lessons are MY life lessons. I have been on the other side of having my love taken for granite, as most of you have. Taking love for granite is a two sided coin, even with pets.

My point is….we can’t expect to treat others badly and still expect them to treat us lovingly. We can’t take one’s love for granite or you will lose the one you love. Family members will stop caring, friends will stop calling (or texting), spouses will stop believing in their love for one another, and pets can become clinically depressed…yes…poor Bella has been there (but I have learned to show her my unconditional love.)

My Life Lesson……Life is unpredictable…..show your love for one another and don’t take one’s love for granite. You never know when that person/pet will walk out of your life leaving you wonder why….the reason why is, because….you took their love for granite.
