I am a workaholic…..I love to work (most of the time.) What does this look like??? For me, I would rather work at a paying job than work at home doing things. I’ve been called “crazy”…. at tad bit more times that one would care to be called but, I love to work. I do still keep a clean house, I work on the yard, and I do things that I like to do. I’m one of those people who would rather keep busy at a paying job than sit in front of a television watching whatever I can find on worth watching during the day.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch reality shows, another reason some people laugh and/or call me crazy/silly, but I’m not much into documentaries like many of my friends/family. I just love to work. I am not ashamed to say this. I have worked over 100 hours in a couple of weeks…. one would wonder why I would seek a second job. I do this because I like variety and I’m a workaholic 😉 .
Most jobs have drama sooner or later. I laugh at myself because I don’t want to spend most of my time with the same drama day after day. Working two jobs gives me a variety. (Yep…I’m laughing too.) I can honestly say, I love to work and keep myself busy. Yes, I can keep myself busy at home, but I believe the reason I would rather work, is for the gratification of knowing I am helping others.
Again…yes, I am helping others when I stay home and spit-shine my floors, or organize my cupboards, or even make my yard look as though it should be in a magazine, but I choose to work and help others by making their day with my amazing personality….lol…(seriously though….I’m serious 😉 ) My house is acceptable and so is my yard (well….kind of, but it will get there).
I totally thrive working at paying jobs. Yes, I love to be paid too….lol. Being a workaholic is not a bad thing, as long as you are taking care of yourself and other priorities. I still walk my dog, do the laundry, eat healthy (ok, that might be stretching it a tad, but we are all a work in progress), and I sleep an average of six hours a night. Some people need more sleep, some people need less. I spoke to one person who told me they “functioned perfectly” on four hours a night of sleep. I feel I am rocking the sleep time now by getting an average of six.
My lesson with this post is….some people find it “crazy” when people want to work so much, while others find it perfectly natural. I love to work, I always have, and I always will. When someone has more than one job and enjoys working, not because they have to, but because they want to, they are a type of workaholic.
I’m not your typical workaholic who compulsively has to work, missing out of precious family/friend time. I do not feel compelled to work, I just love to work, and feel a sense of accomplishment knowing I am making a difference in other’s lives. If you think about your life closely….we all work numerous jobs during a 24-hour time.
