We All Have Things In Common

I’ve been reading about ten books all at one time, a page or two out of each of them daily…yes…I love variety. What kind of books do you ask????? Of course…..self-help books. I just love them, hense the reason I have a degree in counseling and a degree as a life coach. I love to read about all the amazing ideas regarding how to help people enjoy life and love themselves.

There is always one thing in common in these books and that is….being positive. We all feel happy when we have something positive happen in our lives, we are happy when we have a positive attitude, and we are beyond excited when everything seems to go the way we wish they would. This is something we all have in common.

Another thing we have in common is that we can’t go a day without thinking a negative thought. Yep…even the happiest of happy people think negative thoughts. When we use the word “why,” it usually becomes of a negative thought. Examples are, “why did I wear this outfit, why did I just eat this when I’m on a diet, why didn’t I get the job I wanted, …..” you understand what I mean about the word “why” right? This is not a bad word, we ALWAYS learn from the word “why?”

I’m not sure if anyone has ever read the book, “The Secret,” but this book is all about thinking positive thoughts and having those positive thoughts become reality. I truly believe that if we start our day off falling out of bed or stubbing our toe on the bedframe, we start to believe our day is going to be a bad day. We tend to think, “ok, this is the way the day is going to be.” We just expect the rest of the day to be bad because it started out bad.

If we start the day by waking up thinking, this is going to be a great day, then we fall out of bed, we should laugh at ourselves while thinking…”ha…glad I got that out of the way.” We can laugh at our mishaps and still think positive thoughts. We can ask ourselves, why did I fall out of bed and think, “probably because I was sleeping so well I didn’t even realize I was so close to the edge.” Now that’s sleeping soundly!!! Great job I say.

So…my lesson for today is…I did nothing but think positive today, “well, most of the day,” and I had one of the best days at work. I drove in the snow to work, and the ice on my way home knowing I was going to do a great job. I had numerous negative thoughts today, but did I let them ruin my day….nope…I continued to know that the day was a great day and negative thoughts are only small portions of my precious time, which I learn from…then I smile, and continue on with my day.

Trust the Journey and the Lessons,
