MICRO-STEPS

I use to believe that you make a goal and you just go for it. No planning, no thought behind the idea, I just had a, what I thought was, great idea and I just went for it. Talk about setting myself up for failure. I can’t even begin to tell you how many “great ideas” I thought I had. I would just go for it, only to become frustrated and quit.

I have learned from these numerous failures that I need to plan everything out in MICRO-STEPS. I have learned it doesn’t matter how fast you get to your goal, it’s how strong you feel achieving that goal. Failure with a goal is beyond disappointing, but reaching that goal is beyond rewarding. Imagine….You want to write a book and you get all excited, start writing frantically, lose thoughts because you didn’t plan it out and you give up. What if…You take notes when you have an idea for your book, write a paragraph or two each week and tweak what you wrote occasionally to make sense to yourself. At the end…you have an amazing book that you took your time with and poured your heart and soul into.

Here is another example, you want to stop smoking, you’ve tried every way possible to quit. What if you figure out how much you smoke daily and each week you drop down one cigarette or, you don’t think you can drop on a weekly basis and just drop down one cigarette each month? You WILL lower your intake and begin to not only save your life, but also save money sooner than later. Exercising….one sit up a day for a week or a month…increase one sit-up a week or a month and soon…You will be doing sit-ups like nobodies business. You can do this with any exercise…just start slow….MICRO-STEPS.

Micro-steps, baby-steps, small-steps….You get the point…. Everything great and wonderful in life takes time and patience. This lesson has taken me over fifty years to understand. I understand that life is too short to try and master something faster then it should be mastered. Do we really master something when we try to rush to do it? No…We do not.

Let me end this lesson by saying, no one every enjoyed trying to do something by rushing or cutting corners. Take your time, make a list that is lengthy so you look forward to crossing off each step. Don’t try to cross off more steps than you need to….Relax, enjoy, and take Micro-Steps to a healthier, happier life.

Enjoy the Journey,

Alexis
